The award winning Chester Zoo was opened in 1931 and is now one of the UK's largest zoos across 125 acres, with over 21000 animals and 500 species. The Blue Planet Aquarium is home to more than 50 displays of fish and marine species and houses the largest collection of Sharks in Europe.
Built mostly of red sandstone, the Chester Walls follow the Roman Walls until they extend to the river and the Castle. This two mile walk is one of the best preserved in Britain, across the four main gates, you will find a clock erected in 1897 for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and traces of Roman foundations.
Including original 13th century structures, discover the quaint rows unique to Chester which are half-timbered buildings joined with long galleries often referred to as Tudor Shopping Mall. Visit the Chester Visitor Centre to learn of the history with a special exhibit entitled "Our House – The Story of the Rows of Chester".
