Emile sat down with us at Dobbie’s Point to share his experience living in one of our Glasgow student accommodations.
We spoke to Emile about his experience living with Student Roost at Dobbie’s Point, and he shared some stand-out moments and experiences.
Here’s what he had to say…
Emile’s student story
Name: Emile
University: New College Lanarkshire
Studying: Drama
Roost: Dobbie’s Point
Why did you choose to live with Student Roost?
I was originally going to stay home for my first year of study. It just happened that every day, I’d pass Dobbie’s and always look in, thinking it was a really nice hotel. I eventually changed my course to be in Glasgow and needed to look for accommodation. It wasn’t until I started looking that I realised that Dobbie’s Point was student accommodation. It was really helpful that it was in a good location, it’s close to all the things that I need.
What was your social experience like living with us?
I shared my flat with five other guys, and they’re all very nice. I got on with everyone. I’m currently living with one of them. I still keep in touch with all of the other guys, too. We’d always be knocking on each other’s doors, asking if we wanted to hang out.
I used to love finding out what events were going on, it was really fun. It was great to see loads of different people coming together. Even when you’re going up in the lifts, you’ve got the timetables of what’s to come. If you see something that looks good, you might go to go and tell your mates and see if you can organise anything for the day.
What was your favourite thing about living with Student Roost?
It was really cool to have all of my friends in one place; we loved hosting everyone and having a good time. The community of Student Roost is such an interesting experience, having all your friends under one roof and having them all around you is great. Sometimes I’d be in my room alone, and I’d go into the kitchen, and they were all there. When I look back now, I really miss that part.
The convenience of having bills included was a big thing for me, it was really good to have that. Bills are such a big part of moving out, and I can imagine I’d be feeling so much more stressed being away from home in my first year if I did have to worry about that. It makes the process a lot smoother from home to student accommodation. It was really helpful.
