Student life in Southampton
One of the first things a student should do when exploring outside of their student accommodation in Southampton is to explore the city’s maritime and aviation background. The SeaCity Museum opened in 2012, on the 100th anniversary of RMS Titanic’s departure from the port, where you can learn all about it and so much more.
Head to the Solent Sky Museum afterwards to discover all about the aviation manufacturer Supermarine, which produced the famous Spitfire fighter plane. Finally, head to Tudor House and Garden, the first museum in the city, to learn about the people who lived and worked in Southampton through the centuries.
There’s also a lot going on when it comes to culture and the arts, so you’ll have plenty of things to inspire you outside of your Southampton student studio. The Southampton City Art Gallery is a gorgeous space housed in an art deco building. It holds a ‘Designated Collection’ of 5,000 works that span eight centuries! Be sure to spend an afternoon there and look out for works by masters like Edgar Degas and Auguste Rodin. Congratulations! You’ve got a place on a course through clearing and you’re going to university; but what happens next?
Well, the first thing you need to do is accept the offer of study sent to you by the university. You’ll need to do this via UCAS. Once this is done and it’s all confirmed, you’ll also need to let your student finance provider know if there are any changes to your original application, such as a change in the university you’re attending, the course you’re studying, and the length of the course.
