If you need a dose of nightlife, you’ll find it in Belfast. From traditional pubs to iconic live music venues, there’s always something on. If you’re seeking out fresh new artists, you’ll find them at The Perch. If you’re after an authentically Irish experience, check out McHugh’s—home to traditional Irish sounds. You’ll even find samba at Revolucion de Cuba. (FYI: not as easy as it looks.)
Need your funny bone tickled? Belfast’s thriving comedy scene plays host to up-and-coming comedy talent, as well as more established laugh-merchants.
Belfast is a huge city. (44 square miles, FYI.) As such, it’s divided into four quarters—each with its own unique character. The oldest of these is the Cathedral Quarter, which features authentic cobbled streets, trendy bars, historic pubs, and beer gardens.
If you’re thirsty for all things cultural, head over to The Metropolitan Arts Centre (MAC), which features two theatres and three art galleries—each boasting stacked programmes of performances and exhibitions. You’ll also find independent cinemas offering specially curated films and cultural evenings.
Know your boxty* from your Belfast bap? You will. Belfast is packed with restaurants of all types—from traditional Irish pubs to contemporary bistros and cosy family-run restaurants. Whatever your budget, you’ll find eats to suit. (*FYI a boxty is a potato pancake made with grated and mashed potato, flour, buttermilk, and baking soda, aka the signature dish at Holohan’s Pantry.)

Congratulations! You’ve got a place on a course through clearing and you’re going to university; but what happens next?
Well, the first thing you need to do is accept the offer of study sent to you by the university. You’ll need to do this via UCAS. Once this is done and it’s all confirmed, you’ll also need to let your student finance provider know if there are any changes to your original application, such as a change in the university you’re attending, the course you’re studying, and the length of the course.
It’s also important that you find and confirm your accommodation. Options for last minute accommodation can be limited, so let us help you take away the stress. At Student Roost, we have accommodation in 21 UK cities. Upgrade your student living and become a part of our student community.
