The vision of university you may have at the outset can look very different in reality. That doesn't mean it's not going to be a brilliant experience full of great memories and useful lessons you learn along the way, but it may also be stressful at times, with challenging periods of uncertainty and pressure mixed in with all the fun stuff.
You might think that it's part of student life to stand on your own two feet and become independent, tackling problems on your own – and to a point, that's true; however, there's no shame in reaching out and letting people know when you need a helping hand.
At Student Roost, we put your wellbeing first and offer a range of support services so you can feel supported whenever there's a bump in the road. We all need a little help sometimes, right?
When we say our teams are here round-the-clock, that's not just lip service. It means one of our friendly team members will be on hand at reception to speak to 24/7 365 days a year, should you need it.
That could mean letting you into your room if you've misplaced your key, being the first port of call if you need to report a maintenance issue, or a cup of tea and a chat if you've had a bad day. Sometimes a sounding board is the solution: someone to listen to you expel your worries and fears over a particular situation or set of circumstances, getting it all out so you can tackle the problem head-on.
Although we're there for you whenever you need it, we get that opening up in person may not always feel comfortable. We’ve partnered with national mental health charity Chasing the Stigma to ensure that every single one of our residents can access crucial support if they need to.
Our initiative Behind Every Door means that, as a resident in one of our properties, you'll be able to scan a QR code behind your room's door to download Chasing the Stigma's Hub of Hope app in your own space and time. The app is a gateway to comprehensive local and national resources, covering everything from general wellbeing support to specific charities and organisations offering tailored support.
We recommend you download it so you have access to the Hub of Hope in the palm of your hand. But if you don't and you need help, just remember to scan the QR code behind your door. #behindeverydoor
Speaking of apps, did you know that residents have access to our dedicated Student Roost app? Simply search 'Student Roost' in your app store, download the app and register with the email address you made your booking with, and you'll be able to connect with other residents in your property, keep up-to-date with onsite events and manage your account. There are also contact details on there if you need support, so you have everything you need at your fingertips.
More information on all of the above can be found in our dedicated Wellbeing hub.
If you have any questions that you’re still looking for an answer to, contact us or get in touch with your friendly property team who will be more than happy to help.
