Find out what's useful to pack, what you can leave behind and what items are prohibited.

Thinking about what to take to university can be a daunting task, adding stress into an already potentially anxious time for you and your family.

We’ve made it easy for you and created a list of things you can and do need to bring with you, and what you can’t and don’t need to bring with you.

Items you can/should bring with you:

  • Crockery and pots/pans
  • Cutlery
  • Cleaning products and equipment
  • Laundry detergent and laundry basket
  • Toiletries
  • Electronics (if they have been PAT tested and have a UK plug)
  • Clothing and footwear

Items you can’t/don’t need to bring with you:

  • Electrical appliances such as portable washing machines and mini fridges (unless approved for medical use)
